.. HISTORY ..

On September 22nd, 2002 Garrett was practicing on his YZ450F. While practicing, he over-jumped a triple step-up and ran into a tree. With his father at his side, Garrett lost his life that day.

Garrett had been well-known on a popular motocross website (thumpertalk.com), and through the site word of his death spread through the motocross community. As a way to honor Garrett, the “GMB” memorial race was held for the first time in December of 2002.

Today, Garrett's memory and the memory of all fallen riders is honored through the ongoing work of the Garrett Berg Memorial Fund and the Annual Remembering Those Who Rode Memorial Race.

More information about the race, its history and future can be found in the
Remembering Those Who Rode forum at www.allthingsmoto.com.
